Janate Valenzuela
I am a special education attorney based out of the Inland Empire and I am dedicated to providing families the support they need to help their student succeed.
I completed my undergraduate studies at California State University Long Beach, where I double-majored in Political Science and Philosophy and graduated from the University Honors Program. I attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law and earned my Juris Doctor.
Being an Inland Empire native, I returned to the Inland Empire after graduating law school and worked at local law firms and school districts.
While working at local schools, I learned firsthand about the importance of IEPs and how the one-size-fits-all approach does not work for all students who need special education services. I know the challenges of being in a special education classroom and I have seen how students are able to progress and even excel when they are given the right support and services. Educational facilities can fall short of their legal responsibilities and I know how important it is for families to receive accurate information and prompt support to help their student succeed.

Community Engagement:
Ms. Valenzuela volunteered with Inland Empire Latino Lawyers Association. Ms. Valenzuela previously volunteered with the San Bernardino Superior Court. While in law school Ms. Valenzuela volunteered at Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s Veterans Self-Help Clinic and Family Law Self-Help Clinic.
Education:
Ms. Valenzuela graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law where she was awarded the Dean’s Merit Scholarship and recognized for her pro bono legal service while in law school. Prior to law school Ms. Valenzuela attended California State University Long Beach and was Associate Justice in California State University Long Beach, Associated Students Inc., Judicial Branch and President of California State University Long Beach’s Law Society.
